Can a users running Notes v6.5.x client have there mail file on Domino Web Access 7 format? Right now all my users are using the DWA7 template, but I am not sure which are web usesrs, and which are client users, but I would like to get the mail files to DWA7 format.
Is this possible for the 6.5.x clients? Will they get any wierd messages?
Thanks,
Sean

You will have issues running a DWA7 mail template when the client is not version 7.x. The client would encounter some (if memory serves me correctly) USELSX errors, etc… because the classes are unique to version 7 clients. You could use an earlier version like DWA(6).

Actually, this will work, at least with 6.5.3. We recently began updating our mail templates to dwa7 and have experienced no problems so far EXCEPT that the template needs to be modified as follows (so far… but this is the one I noticed that I cared about):
There is a shared action for Tools… Preferences that has a hide-when formula of
@If(@TextToNumber(@Version) < 250;@True;@False)
Which prevents it from displaying to the Notes 6.5 client. Changing the number to something below the 6.5 version will fix this and allow the dialog to show up. However, other errors will occur when you launch the dialog, having to do with setting availability time range and two errors that a field could not be located.
Quick testing showed that I was unable to change my letterhead or make changes to the calendar settings in this dialog box related to availability (which is why the menu item was hidden in the first place, it seems).
If this is not an issue for you, then upgrading the mail file should not cause problems (at least we have experienced no issues).

Just to comment on the errors that you may encounter regarding availability time range, this is in the 6.5.5 template as well as we have been experiencing it. I haven’t found out why, or how to fix it from a design perspective, but you can get rid of these errors. It’s related to the fact that Saturday and Sunday aren’t selected in your available timerange. Go into your Preferences and check those boxes, set the time range to what it should be and save this. Go back in and deselect Saturday and Sunday and save it again. This will get rid of the errors and allow you to make other changes within Preferences, such as signature.
Now to figure out how to get rid of the error before I convert all of my users. Thankfully the issue is currently onlyaffecting a small test group.
