Currently deploying new XP machines on a 2003 AD domain with Notes 6.5.4 installed. The password sync works correctly until the AD password is changed for the first time (using Ctrl-Alt-Del). Doing so will change the AD password and the Notes ID password, but the settings for Notes are cleared and I have to go through the wizard to re-setup the user. Subsequent password changes are successful. The problem only occurs on the first password change.
Anyone else having a similar issue and would know of a workaround or fix, besides having to re-setup the user for Notes?
Thank you.

What kind of install is this? Single or Multi User? Where is the notes.ini for the user? Is it in the Notes app directory (for single user)? Is it in the location specified by the NotesIniPath in the users registry (multi user)? Sounds like something is overwritting your notes.ini file.

David,It is a multi-user install. The notes.ini file is saved in c:\documents and settings<username>\local settings\application data\lotus\notes.
The first time the password is changed, a command prompt flashes up displaying mpnotify.exe. It opens and closes so fast, I don’t get a chance to read what the message says. As you mentioned, it does appear the notes.ini is being overwritten because when I setup the user again with their ID, I noticed that the password on the ID was correctly synced with the user’s windows password.

This was just reported by QE in 7.0. I’ll try to reproduce. Thanks

David: I managed to get a screen capture of the command prompt that appears when changing the Windows password. The title of the window is MPNOTIFY.EXE with the following message:
19/07/2005 09:30:58 AM A previous process with process ID 2964 failed to terminate properly.
I’m hoping there is a fix soon because right now, I’m manually changing the user’s password and then re-setting up Notes. It’s a hassle but at least I know I won’t have to do it the next time they change their password.
Thanks again David.

Does anyone know if there was a fix for this? We are experiencing the same problem and I can’t find any resolution posted on the forum
