If you have multiple versions of the Notes client on your machine, be very careful when upgrading to the 6.0.1 release. The upgrade found the wrong folder for mine, so I changed it to the correct one.
It seems to have partially ignored that change.
It upgraded the right folders, but it changed my notes.ini to point to the wrong data folder! So, when I started Notes, it went and happily updated all of the databases in the wrong folder. To make matters worse, it appears to have also updated all of the templates in the R5 folder as well.
Subject: Notes 6.0.1 upgrade and concurrent Notes versions - warning.
Thanks for the information, but Lotus recommends in whitepaper 195347 (Nov. 2002) that both ND6 and R5 not be installed on the same machine (also described in the N6 release notes). However, should anyone decide to do so then there are some brief instructions.
Everyone I know in the consulting game has to have multiple versions of the notes client, designer and admin on their machine…
Its something thats been required since about version three, and worked…
So - if any kind person is reading this within NotesDev - we need multiple client co-existence on the same machine. Not for all the users granted (or even a significant minority), but we’d still like to retain this ability. So if you happen to find anything that endangers this, please mark it as a bug… Thanks!
