Notes 6.0.1 OS X - Data folder?

Hi all folks, back to the Mac OS X “Data folder” question for Notes 6.0.1!

I try to do all the things are written in the replies

to the question, but I got only the Box

"Notes cannot find a preferences File. …

"

Now I select an I got a Message Box with

"Unable to access data directory 'Macintosh HD:

Applications:Lotus Notes:Data’ using …"

I try to use a new Userid and all files are copied to

the “~/Documents/Data” folder, but I get no Prompt to

enter the new Data directory.

Does someone what’s going wrong?

Thanks for any help,

Lut

Hey:Have you tried simply trashing your Notes Preferences file that resides within your Systems Folder? That will allow you to complete the Notes Workstation Setup once again and you should be all set.

Another option is to add the Notes Preferences Editor to your Mac and then edit the Notes Preferences file by deleting the errored line.

Hi Doug,I can’t find a “Notes Preference” file in the System folder!

I check the whole Disk with "find . -name “Notes*” and I can’t find

any “Notes Preference” file (via root user).

Where can I get the “Notes Preference Editor” from, I can’t find the Editor?

Hi Lutz,

I got the same problem. It turns out it was a permissions issue on the Data folder in /Applications/Lotus Notes/Data. By allowing read/write access by owner, group, and world on the Data folder and its subcontents, I was able to successfully complete the Notes setup.

Your Notes Preferences file should be in your users:yourname:library:preferences folder.

To find the Notes Preferences Editor, go to the Lotus Support Services link on this page (bottom left) and search for it. You want technote 4004002.

Notes Preferences Editor is a Classic app, I’m afraid. It won’t run directly under OS X, but it will edit OS X Notes 6 Preferences files.

Hi Mike, Michael

I try to use the Preference Editor from the Support Link “4004002”, but this is a editor for “Notes Preference Editor for Notes R4 and R5 Client”.

Yes, Michael, I try to use this way too, but there is a ugly problem.

You can’t share your Mac with other Notes Users, also I’m interesting in using

a “per User” data directory.

p.s.

now I try to install the german Client 6.0 on my german Mac OS X,

BTW, where can I get 6.0.1 from (in german)!

Lutz,

Yes, I know it says the Preference Editor is for Notes 4/5 but I’ve used it on a Notes 6 Preferences file without problem.

Hi Mike, yes I can do this too!

But only a new Preferences file, with a used file with

lots of entries, I can update the file, but Notes can’t

read the file, it’s corrupted!

Now I can move the Data directory to my Documents

Directory.

Bye, Lutz

p.s.

Very ugly way to move the Data directory to a user

specific place.
