Not authorized to send mail to this user or group

I’ve searched this forum and seem to be doing everything right.

We’re using a straight address book, nothing customized, no LDP or cascading.

Every person or group doc has “All Readers and above” checked in the access tab with this user in one of the listed groups.

The user (via the group she’s in) has access via the ACL to all the mail files she’s sending to.

I even added “RouterDisableReadersField=1” to the client ini

any other solutions? I’m reading this should have been fixed in 6.5, I’m on 7.0.2 FP1

TIA,

when/where is this error occurring? server log, client (pop-up)? When sending to 1 user or group or to any user or group?

Subject: RE: Not authorized to send mail to this user or group

upon form submission within the mail-in database, the next routed person is a user in the NAB

you did not really answer my questions. Is this happening for 1 user who cannot send to 1 user, many users who cannot send to 1 user, any user cannot send to 1 user, 1 user cannot sent to many users, 1 user cannot send to any users, etc. And, why does the send have access to everyone’s mail files? Users don’t need access to other user’s mail files in order to send mail. The server deposits the mail in the recipient’s mailbox.

sorry, one user not able to send to anyone’s mail file

I could remove the sender from the acl of the recipient’s mail file but that wouldn’t be the solution

it sounds to me like the user does not have access to either your primary address book or possibly a secondary address book and it cannot resolve the address. check the user’s access to the domino directory, should be Author. You might also check the server console on the user’s home mail server when she attempts to send a message, this may display an error message that will lead you to the problem.

Subject: RE: Not authorized to send mail to this user or group

Hmm - it might be a problem with access to the Domino Directory, but I would expect there would be many more symptoms, such as problems with regular e-mail, and not just with this one application.

Are there any rules in the Server’s configuration document that might be preventing this person from sending e-mails to certain recipients ?

Have you checked the user’s location document in their personal address book to make sure the correct domain and mail settings are specified?

Does the user have any of the recipients listed in their personal address book?

Subject: RE: Not authorized to send mail to this user or group

I checked the location document and the access to the NAB and it’s the same as all the other users.

I’ll call IBM and post the solution

Subject: RE: Not authorized to send mail to this user or group

IBM couldn’t find a solution but is still looking into it.

One thing I discovered is that I can use the exact same id on another workstation and not only see the address book but also send mail,

maybe it’s just a matter of clearing my cache and relaunching Notes

maybe a problem with the local address book on that computer. see if there are also any cascaded local address books on the problem computer and make sure the user can access them OK.

Subject: Not authorized to send mail to this user or group FINALLY SOLVED

The ini file contained a reference to an address book that the user no longer had access to

The names= reference was removed from the ini file and shazzam!

I know it’s late but hopefully this helps someone
