I have a client having problems recovering passwords. I have checked in Administration, Configuration, Edit Recovery Information and his name is in there. He has access to the password recovery database. He is in a group that has manager access to all databases on the server, and in the server document, he has full access administrator access. Every time he tries to recover the password for a particular user, he gets an error message saying “you are not authorised to recover this id file”
Two things:1)If this is an emergency i’d do the following. Note you should not do this if the user uses encryption. Just create another id for the user. You can rename the users original person doc if you’d like along with removing cert info.
2)Is is possible that the user was created prior to the users name being added to the id as allowable to recover passwords for that certifier. if this is the case then send the user an update notice for that certifier. I think this is the case.
Thanks, I had a horrible feeling you were going to say that. I will have to recreate the user and hope she hasn’t got too many encryped mails. And I will have to update password recovery for the new administrator.
Its a bit of a problem now they have moved to version 6 and have password synchronisation. If a user is off sick, the administrator changes the NT password, logs on as the user and enables their Out of Office. Then when the user comes back to work, the Lotus Notes password doesn’t work anymore!!! Why have you taken this away Lotus, at one point, anyone with access to a mail file could set the ooo agent to run, now you have to be logged on as the user.
