Non existant rule being processed

I’ve got an issue where a rule that can’t be found on the client’s mail file is deleting emails coming from a specific domain. I know it’s a client rule because it goes to anyone else fine and the log states that

Message 0063ECD5 for CN=UserName/O=Organization deleted by mail rule filter

I’ve tried refreshing/replacing the design, upgrading the design to 8.5 and opening it with an 8.5 client, dropping it back down to 8.0 and opening with an 8.0.2 and 8.5 client and I can never see or find the rule.

Any help would be appreciated.

Subject: Try this.

Mail rule documents often disappear from the Tools->Rules view. This can happen after upgrading mail files from one Lotus Notes Domino release to a newer version or while replacing the structure of a mail file. This tip shows – step-by-step – how to make mail rule documents visible again.

  1. Open the mail file

  2. Press Ctrl/Shift and click on View, Goto… to open your MailFile and all hidden views.

Open one of the view’s names, for example: ($VIMxxx).

  1. In the mail menu, go to View → Search this view.

  2. In the Search for field, enter the following : mailrule

  3. Click Search.

All MailRule documents that had disappeared should reappear.

  1. Double-click on each document to open them.

  2. Double-click on any opened document to place it in “Edit” mode.

  3. Click on OK to close the document.

  4. Click Accept to save the document.

The missing MailFile documents should then appear in your Tools ->Rules view.

Subject: Solved

Got it working. It took a combination of a compact, updall and fixup. I was never able to see the rule, but it seems to have purged it.

Subject: mail rule problem

Ernie’s suggestion may work, I’m not sure.

However, simply adding any mail rule and deleting it should fix the problem.

Changing the order of the mail rules and then changing the order back to the original state should fix the problem as well.

Either of these actions should force the mail rules to be synchronized with the calendar profile which should clear up the problem.
