No password prompt at logon => wrong password error

This morning I tried to startup my client (6.5.3) and then immediately a “Wrong password…” error pops up. The password prompt is not shown anymore. I tried the following things :- Restart Notes

  • Select a different id

  • Select a different location (including id)

Nothing helps. Any clue what’s happening here?

At the OS level, check the properties of names.nsf. Make sure that it is not “read-only.” If that doesn’t work, then copy a names.nsf from someone else’s machine to your machine, and try again. Be sure to rename your names.nsf to something else (like badnames.nsf) before the copy.

You may wish to check to make sure that you don’t have any extension manager hooks registered (via the EXTMGR_ADDINS notes.ini variable) that might be trapping the EM_GETPASSWORD message and over-riding the normal password prompt.

This solved my problem. Same symptoms - commenting out this line in the notes.ini file allowed me to log in.

EXTMGR_ADDINS=ntfnagnt.dll,c:\PROGRA~1\SONYER~1\mobile4\SYNCMA~1\notespwdhook

Problem caused by a corrupt file in the Sony Ericsson Suite for the p990i. Synchmanager seems to cause lots of problems with not shutting down properly.

Thanks for the solution for this. I have a P990i and had the same problem.

Still I am not able to sync my lotus email with my phone. I have the “MIME to CD conversion” window during email sync and finally lotus maximum instances are reached .

Please let me know if you could successfully sync notes 6 with p990.
