No Instant Messging in inotes preferences

I have done some searching on this forum and cannot find the answer to my question. How do I get sametime awareness in DWA / inotes? I have followed the procedures I found in the domino admin help and related technotes. However, there is no enable instant messaging in the inotes preferences. DWA servers are configured for instant messaging.

Domino servers are 8 thru 8.5 beta

Sametime servers are 8

mail templates are 8 thru 8.5

Hi I am relatively new at Domino, but one thing I found was that chat would not work with Firefox 3.01 or 3.02, the option did not even appear. It worked fine in IE7. I upgraded to Firefox 3.03, and presto, there was the option to enable chat.
