An associate creates a contact in there local address book using the internet address from the Domino person document as the email address for the contact. When creating a meeting using that contact the busy time is showing “No Info”
This appears to be lost functionality in our environment.
This has happened since upgrading our Domino servers to 8.5
Subject: Thoughts & need more info
All busytime lookups go back to your Home Server for processing. This behavior has not changed since Day One. If the name sent to the Home Server is not one that the server can resolve into a server name to go look on, an error code is sent back. However the GUI still will display “No Info” in the grid for that user.
If you simply left click in the “No Info” gray part of the grid next to a name then the error code sent back will be displayed on the status bar. (Changing this GUI behavior to display the error instead of “No Info” has been SPRd already.) In any case, try clicking on the “No Info” and see what displays on the status bar. From there I can get a better sense of what is wrong.
When I tried this on my latest daily build I found that the UI will display both the NAB entry (along with hierarchical name) as well as the local PNAB entry with internet address only:
and when I pressed comma Notes selected the NAB entry (the one w/a hierarchical Notes name, etc) and not the PNAB one. So I cannot immediately reproduce your issue.
This could be due to changes for 8.5.1 or it could be something else (depending on what error you are getting back on the lookup) so if you can see what error (if any) is coming back and show me what you are seeing then I can try to help you further

Subject: No info on status bar
I do not see an error on the Status bar when single left clicking the No Info gray bar. When I double left click the users name under the Required list I get “Unable to open users mail database”
It appears that the server is not able to resolve the contact in the local address book when listed by internet address.
Subject: More info
Ok, I need some more info.
1: Are you shown both the local INet address only and the hierarchical NAB entry (like in my original posting) or does Notes just give you the local INet address only?
2: What name do you see on the meeting notice? The internet address or the Notes hierarchical name?

Subject: Internet address
Answer to 1. Internet addressAnswer to 2. The shortname shows in the Find Available Times view
It looks like I have narrowed this down to only one home mail server that is returning the No Info message
Subject: Getting closer
Ok, the reason you get “No Info” is that Notes is asking for busytime for an RFC 822 address and not a Notes user name. The address is sent to the server and it finds it cannot service the request.
Thanks to the Tech Preview LWP Connector that was done in 7.0, the server will try to connect to the specified Internet server and get busytime from it. So the home server is trying to make the connection and eventually will time out and fail with some error code. Until then you should see “No Info” in the GUI.
I am not sure why you see the internet address over the Notes hierarchical name in the meeting notice but I suspect it is due to your directory settings and the specific value you used on the Contact in your PNAB.
On my Locations Mail tab I have “Local then Server” for my Mail addressing value. If you have something different then that could affect how Notes resolves the name. (I could also be benefiting from some 8.5.1 changes that I am not aware of too.)
Does the user name on the local Contact record match the full Notes name or is it just the common name?
If only the common name is used (and depending on your Location settings) then Notes does not detect that you really meant the Notes user and that would be why it uses the Internet address instead of the hierarchical name.
Out of curiosity, why copy the user out of the NAB into the local Contacts?

My settings are the same in the location document
Does the user name on the local Contact record match the full Notes name or is it just the common name?
It is the common name. I have set up 15 contacts with the users common name and internet address as the only info in the contact. About 10 will show there busytime and the others will show No Info. So, I think the more I have looked into and considering the information you have shared this would not appear to be a Notes 8.5 issue, but it is an issue that is about to drive me up a wall.

They are synching there contacts with a handheld and using the handheld to address messages to the internet address
