No "Go Offline" button on Discussion Database

I installed Domino 6.5 server, including the web/http features that I think should have installed DOLS. I’ve created the Offline Security Document with … Security Domain: /Myservername

ID Deployment Policy: Use Domino Directory for ID lookup

Domino directory to look up ID files from: names.nsf

… and have even cross-certified dolcert.id .

I can surf and log on to the discussion database using IE, so the online view is fine. My understanding is that there should be a “Go Offline” button on the Discussion Database (template v6), but I don’t see one. (I can actually see the space on the page, but pressing there doesn’t help!)

Similarly, I can use IE to get iNotes (i.e. Domino Web Access). The “Go Offline” button appears there, but there’s no response when selecting it.

I’ve reinstalled the Domino server a few times, without a different result.

Looking at the server log, I note a few indicators:

01/28/2004 11:18:36 PM HTTP Server: DSAPI Domino Off-Line Services HTTP extension Loaded successfully

01/28/2004 11:18:39 PM HTTP Server: Started

01/29/2004 01:00:29 AM Warning: Cannot locate design note ‘servers.gif’ in ‘DOLS Resource Template’ template

Are these latter messages providing any clues that anyone could help me with?

looks like you don’t have those template. You know there are version 6 templates now. I would make sure you have all the templates needed by those databases on the box. (If you want to use the R5 design then be sure to have the template on the server).

I just looked the discussion database (via the web and there is no offline), but within the notes client I am not see a reference for offline function in the about and using the database documents.

Actually, I upgraded a v4.6 discussion database, and then created a new one using the “Discussion - Notes & Web (6)” template, named discsw6.ntf . This was a virgin Domino 6.5 server, so if there’s something missing, it shouldn’t be my fault.

The “About” page in the upgraded database still reads like v4.6, but the new database from the v6 template reads with a bit of a pre-release artifact:

More information can be found in the Rnext help database, HELP6_CLIENT.NSF and in the Using document for this database.

I agree that there’s no reference to an offline function in the About document, and the Using document only mentions some “web equivalent” agents – not offline.

Subject: Fixed by 6.5 → 6.51

I downloaded the full Domino 6.5.1 package, and installed it on top of the prior 6.5 installation.

“Go Offline” now appears.

Interesting… I wonder if the about and using documents were updated to reflect this change as well?
