I’m brand new to this particular game, so please forgive my ignorance.
From a view, a double click should bring up a particular form. And it does, but not in edit mode.
In the form properties, on open, automatically enable edit mode is checked.
The user has the proper authority via the ACL (i think.).
a right click (once you’re in the document) allows editing.
right clicking on the form and choosing edit, while in the view, opens it in edit mode.
but i can’t, for the life of me, get the form to automatically open in edit mode from the view menu via double clicking it.
what painfully obvious thing am i missing?

Have you added a user directly to the ACL, not as a group, but as themself so their name is listed and have their user type set to “PERSON”?
Does the user have “Editor” writes or above? For that matter, what access do they have?
Did you just turn on the setting? Trying closing the database all the way and then reopening it.

If the user can edit the document after it has opened, then the problem isn’t an ACL one.
Is this a form you have created yourself, or is it something that you are modifying? And, by some chance, is the document being displayed in a frame?

to the prior questions:
yes, the authority is to a person.
yes, i’ve closed and opened the database. (i didn’t know if this was necessary, but figured it couldn’t hurt).

Are you absolutely certain that the form it’s using is the same one you have just been editing?
Are you by any chance using “store form in document” option, which would prevent your form changes from having any effect on already existing documents?
If you change the form in some visible way – e.g. the background color or adding some static text – can you see this change on your existing documents?

yes on the same form.just to be sure, i went into each form and put the title on that specific form, saved, closed the database and re-opened and so i can id what form i’m in.
store form with document is not checked.
and let me be sure i’m clear. you can edit the document using the form, but you have to (a) check it on the view and select open from the drop down box or (b) right click when in the form and choose edit (and then it seems to reopen in edit mode).
but it doesn’t open from the view, when double clicked, in edit mode (with the field input enabled)…i mean, it’s only an extra step to right click…but if you open for edit, shouldn’t it open with the fields input enabled?
