Newbie on the Block

I’m new to the Lotus Domino/Notes environment. Are there any training materials recommended that I should be looking at to get myself up to speed? I have many years in the Windows Server environment and have just been asked recently to start wrapping my hands about Domino and Notes. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Actually over the years the 3rd party books have dwindled because this forum and others like it are so good and, the Domino help NSF files are really very good.

Start with the help files and follow the IBM forums and you should get a good start.

Subject: A lot of documentation is out there…

Hi Matt,

There is a great website provided by IBM that has numerous topics covering almost any question you may have. It is the IBM Redbooks Website - http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/

For example, if you are interested in Distributing Notes Client Automatically, then see the redbook - http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/redpapers/pdfs/redp3693.pdf

Through searching through the Redbooks, you can find a great deal of information - from Domino Web Access/iNotes, to Installations of the Notes Clients and Domino Servers, etc. It is a great site to have bookmarked. If you find that you would like additional information, there is also IBM’s Knowledge Base Online. - http://www-912.ibm.com/s_dir/slkbase.nsf/slkbase

In the Knowledge Base, you can find great documentation on various topics that the Redbooks cover, as well as documentation on known issues. A great set of documents is the Knowledge Collection Technotes that specifically outline important information regarding that Knowledge Collection topic. For an example, I have included the Upgrade to Lotus Notes/Domino 8.0. Knowledge Collection. This Technote provides detailed and valuable information!

Please feel free to reply to this with any questions Matt and I will clarify any questions you have! Specifically, if you are interested in any specific documentation, let me know and I can assist you in locating it!
