New update.... now I have NSD running around like a chicken

Ok, I re-ran the install as a Modify, didn’t help. THEN I re-ran it as a REPAIR and it is getting closer.

Now when I first tried to open the client, I got a message: NSD is running… bla bla bla.

So I checked the log… I can’t read these things but saw a post that said look at FATAL THREAD area… and I think there may be IP issue? (altho it was fine an hour ago with R5 client running with no network issues).

SO… I open in Island mode, its stays open!.. until it attempts to check the server… Then NSD runs again.

PROBLEM #2:?

Also I can’t open any Local databases, I get a LotusScript error… resource file missing (nse*, nsk*, etc)

whats that?

Ok here is the section of log near FATAL THREAD… any help?

Subject: Sounds like you have a major skewage going on

Based on the symptoms you describe, it looks like ou have R5 and R6 installed (probably in a non-standard way) and now for some odd reason you end up with the OS trying to load different dlls across the products. The R5 resource string showing up in the R6 splashscreen and the wrong entry point ordinal number error seem to verify this IMHO.I’d recommend to uninstall both R5 and R6 and re-install R6 from scratch.

Subject: Ohhh please… no…

well I had R5 running fine… for years. Then I tried to load R6 in the same place R5 was, expecting it will UPgrade it? Is this a wrong assumption? Ihave upgraded other people in the same directory that their R5 was installed and it worked fine… its just ME.

and then… trying to open the Admin client is a JOKE!.. it appears that both clients are having problems hitting the SERVER. maybe I need to bring back a old copy of my personal address book…

I think this all might be linked to the fact that this install was targeted for the H: drive, and on the G: drive I had an install of R4.6 - I think they didn’t play nicely… so you may be right, I may have to move all of it off the machine, out to the network and reinstall 6

Subject: wrong entry point ordinal number ?

is that what the 3140 code is?

Subject: Notes 6 … is masquerading as Release 5.09 on my machine?

Another weird thing… when I open the Notes client, it IS the new Notes6 splash screen, but in small print below the picture it says:

Release 5.09 November 16, 2001

but once open it all looks like 6

Ruth,

I think it’s time for you to strip and start again! :o)

Oh please… not the dreaded STRIP down… No… please… ahhh I think you may be right… this is horrible. The problem tho, is that I have a huge address book… and I dont know if I’ll be able to open it once i get straightened out and I do need to get in to it.

Subject: RE: Notes 6 … is masquerading as Release 5.09 on my machine?

Take a backup copy of it first. If worst comes to worst you can export it or cut and paste it into a new copy later.

Subject: Did you run the 6.01 update?

It fauled things up on some my machines with dual (R5 and R6) installations.

Subject: Not yet…

no i havent run the update yet, thought i’d try getting just 6 to work first?
