I’ve been developing custom Notes & Domino applications for a few years (currently in R5, ND6.5 soon), and just now beginning to think about the possibilities of including the Blackberry as a client. At this point, I’d like some “Blackberry/Notes/Domino Integration 101” info, such as, is it relatively easy to allow Blackberry access to custom applications? Can it be as simple as developing a web page with the small screen in mind?
I’m also interested to hear about different possibilities for interactive interfaces, such as, providing a Blackberry user with the ability to approve or reject a request in a workflow application.
Lastly, what are some thoughts about pushing data to the Blackberry for use when disconnected?

Are you going use the blackberry to web access the server?
I would think more to web devices (cell phone, palm devices, etc) You will get a larger audience as well.
I mean I have a treo600 phone and it uses a specific web browser. based on the browser it was using I built a site which shown it for the screen size. Is that what you are looking for?

Thanks, Joe. Not sure exactly what I’m looking for. Still early. I work at a big company. Many of the executives use Blackberrys. We’re just trying to think of the best ways to take advantage of the combination. I’m aware that we can create Domino web pages that can be accessed using the Blackberry (just like any web page), but I’m trying to get an idea of other possibilities. Example: Push data to the Blackberry so that info is available when web access is not. I’d like to hear about applications that have implemented well for Blackberry users.

There are actually two options.
The first - using the Blackberry’s web capabilities - you’ve already discussed in the other responses. The newer Blackberries all are J2EE compliant, so this is a viable option.
The second option - actually syncing an application to the device - is also viable. There is at least one third-party utility (mDB from mBIZTech) which makes this fairly simple (I posted an article about this on the Unplugged site: Bleaching Your Vagina - Intimate whitening for a beautiful look.).
Also, keep in mind that WebSphere Everyplace Access also supports Blackberry devices, as does the OneBridge server from Extended Systems.
