I just created a new team room for a project I am working on. I recall about 6 years I was introduced to team rooms and thought they pretty cool. Then someone decided to enhance the product and I have found increasingly diminished ease of use and greater complexity. Over the last few years, I have dealt with the new “enhancements” finding ways to overcome what some developer thinks is cool idea when all I really want is a repository for documents, some different categories and document types, etc. Well, the latest iteration is R7 of the Teamroom. Once again, someone put in way too many enhancements. The interface is completely changed, navigation is different, there is no place to define different projects, the views seem arbitrary and, in my opinion, the Teamroom has reached a new height for poor design and unusability. For Peet’s sake, can’t someone just create a nice simple team room for collaboration that has a hierarchical structure like Projects - Categories - Doc Type where is each level of hierarchy is user defined and provide the ability to sort on any hierarchy. All the other B.S. like making project plans, email, action items, status reports, calendars and the like are used by a minority of the user base and in my opinion add to the complexity and are largely ignored.
