Does anyone know if there are plans to deliver the “Push” technology slated for release in 8.5.1 to other platforms besides Windows? Specifically, i5OS.
Some of my users insisted on getting iPhones without a real discussion on system requirements and then expected the server to be configured to their needs. I configured Domino 8.5 to allow them access via iNotes Ultralite. They either spoke with someone or found a blog which extols the wonders of a product called NotesPro which apparently requires the modification of the mail file to add an agent. That blog goes further to say the product does not always work, but Lotus will deliver “push” technology with Domino 8.5.1 which would make this product obsolete. I have found some references to this with Notes Traveler setup which will require a second Domino server to be setup under the Windows Server OS. Not exactly what I wanted was to maintain another server for 3 users
Subject: Traveler for iSeries?
I too am interested in the answer to this question. I’d love to be able to support mobile devices using Lotus Notes Traveler, but setting up a Windows Server, Domino for Windows, getting them configured to replicate, maintaining them, not to mention the initial and ongoing costs to buy new hardware and software, seems stupid when everything’s already there on the iSeries. Since IBM makes both the iSeries and Domino/Traveler, I’m hoping work IS being done to bring Traveler to the iSeries (and to the other platforms people chose to run Domino on for security and stability reasons), but I need something a little more concrete than “hope” to take to my boss.
Anyone have an “in” with IBM to be able to answer whether we can look forward to an iSeries version (timeframe estimate would be a big bonus) or if we should stop holding our breaths?

iNotes is web based and puts nothing on the iPhone. it is rendered in Safari the iPhone’s browser.
Traveler is push technology that puts Notes PIM functionality on the iPhone. NO, it will not make iNotes obsolete.

Sorry for inconvenience - Traveler Server is Windows only currently. Redhat and SUSE Linux are being developed now with Linux for I-Series, Linux for P-Series and AIX as slated for future releases.
