I have had this problem come up twice in 2 days. They add a new person to the Address Book, but when they try and resolve their name in the To: field of an email, it doesn’t see it. If you navigate to the name via the Addressbutton, they can add the name to the To: field, but again, it doesn’t resolve to the email address.
I have tried Deleting the icon from the Workspace, compacting the workspace and deleting the cache. I have also tried ToolsRefreshAllDocs. I have done a Design Replace on the Address Book.
Also, for one of them, when I created the Refresh Agent and added it to the Actions menu, it did not show up there, then, when I looked for it in agents, it was not there.
Sounds like you might have some corrupted view problems.
If this is a personal address book try opening it and holding down the following three keys simultaneously to rebuild the views: Ctrl + Shift + F9.
For databases on the server you can do the same thing or you can issue the following command on the server console:
LOAD UPDALL NAMES.NSF -R
To rebuild views in all databases on the server you can simply enter:
LOAD UPDALL -R
Also check location settings document to ensure both Local & Server address books are selected and that Recipient Name Lookup is set to ‘Exhaustively Check All Address Books’.
Are they custom PNAB’s or they are the main names.nsf one? If they are custom, they must be listed in the “Local Address Books” field in the user preferences or the client will not look for them.
I am leaning towards thinking it is an indexing problem. Is there anyway to purge a database on local?
Further update: I have spent too long trying to fix ihis, so as a draconian resort, I created a new PNAB, copied the contacts over, renamed the old one and made the new one names.nsf and it worked.
