I have a problem with a specifc user not getting type-ahead to work correctly when trying to address a new memo. It works fine for me and for other users, but not her.
Her Location document appeared to be correct and is using all of the default settings.
Any ideas? Questions about my configuration?
I only have one address book on the server and don’t use directory catalog’s etc. or anything fancy.
The only difference I noticed is that she is on Windows 98 while I am on XP and the other three users it seems to work correctly for are all on Windows 2000.
Should I try reinstalling her client from scratch? (She was an upgrade from 5.0.8)

OK fixed the above problem but have another question.
Now I have noticed that all of us are having a different problem. If I type in John and hit enter I get the Ambiguous Name dialog box that shows two names that are in my personal address book, but it does not show the several John’s that are in the Company Address Book.
How do I resolve this?
I want it to show ALL of the names that match across both the PAB and Company AB.

It would be a good idea to post the fix for your original problem for the benefit of others who might run into it in future and be searching for an answer.

The solution to the first problem was the fact that the user in her user preferences under the Local Address Books setting had two databases listed. One was her PAB the other was an out of date address book that is no longer used. I removed it so that just her names.nsf was listed and this correct that problem.
I am still however experiencing the second problem with not getting the Amibiguous Dialog box to come up.

Your problem with local address book can be solved only with public address book on local

I’m not sure I follow. I’ve already corrected the problem that I was having with the local address book. This is the only problem that remains that I need help with:
If I type in John and hit enter I get the Ambiguous Name dialog box that shows two names that are in my personal address book, but it does not show the several John’s that are in the Company Address Book (the Public Address Book on the server).
Are you saying that the only way to correct this is to give everyone a local copy of the public address book?

Yes. Kind of.
MDC is not a copy of public address book. It can be less that 5% of original address book size.
And then you will see how fast mail addressing in Notes.
Instant typeahead. Instant Name Lookup.

I am not sure if this issue has been taken care of - but did you check the “Recipient Name Type Ahead” settings on the Mail tab of your location document - is it set for Local Only, or Local then Server?

Already tried that and it didn’t change the situation. After I make this change do I need to restart notes?

In the Location document, try changing the Mail Addressing setting.
