I’ve been working, as time permits, to upgrade our domain where most users are still running 6.5.5.
I recently upgraded my machine to 8.5.1 FP1 (from 8.5 FP1) still using an 6.5.5 mail template and overall things are much better than my experience with 8.5.
However, after I upgraded my mail template to 8.5.1 - my new mail doesn’t show in my inbox until I manually refresh.
I receive the New Mail notification, but even up to 45 minutes later the inbox doesn’t show any new mail. Pressing F9 - a bunch of new mail will appear.
I’ve seen this on older version of the client, and turned off new mail notification, closed Notes, reopened, turned it back on, etc; but still doesn’t work.
I have a couple test PCs that don’t seem to have this issue, so it doesn’t look like it happens everywhere.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!
Subject: local replica?
Are you working with a local replica of your mail file?
Subject: That would have been useful information, huh?

No. Server copy.
This was working perfectly in 8.5.1 client with 6.5.5 mail template. Upgraded to 8.5.1 template - stopped working.
I get notified, the client’s message line says ‘You have new mail on ’, however, the mail never shows in the inbox, unless I hit F9.
I may try replacing the template back and forth…
Subject: oh…try this
I had a problem with local replicas and refresh of the inbox. Lotus Support showed me a work-around. I don’t know if the solution will work in your case, but it is worth a try.
in ‘preferences>mail>sending and receiving’ uncheck ‘refresh Inbox automatically’. then close the Notes client. Open the client, check ‘refresh inbox automatically’, close the client again. then open the client and see if the refresh works.
Subject: Tried that already - didn’t help
I’ve reverted back to the 6.5.5 template and will see what happens…
Subject: It seems to be my client?
It seems to be my client - the inbox didn’t refresh in 6.5.5 either - at least for quite awhile.
I’ve upgraded the mail file back to 8.5.1 - sent myself a test message - I receive the notification, the system tray icon, and the sound - but the inbox doesn’t refresh - I waited over an hour…
Oh, well, I git bigger issues!
Thanks for trying to help!!
Subject: Check this setting: "Check for new mail every x minutes (In Preferences - Mail - Sending and Receiving)
Make it a small number (<5).
Subject: This issue was never fixed in 8.5.1
…and now they say it’ll be fixed in 8.5.2.
