New Insallation of Notes

Well I’ve run into a problem that I have never encountered before, I am trying to use Notes on a new machine with an existing user.id and 3 internet mail files. In the past I have copied over the mail files and user.id, started Notes and everything works. I did this on the current machine last April and its still working, however on the new machine I seem to get hang-ups upon starting Notes. The first few times I tried this it wouldn’t recognize any of the paths in the user.id, after a couple of more re-installs, it seemed to get my locations right but would not display the mail accounts in Preferences. Both systems are running Win 7 Enterprise, 2x1 TB HD, i7-3740 CPU, 32 GB Ram, but the one I’m having trouble also has a Crucial 256 GB mSata Boot drive. Notes is installed on both machines on one of the HD’s. Also, when I try to Shut down Notes, it hangs and I have use Task Manager to stop it. The installation file has been used on the machine and one previous and never had a problem. The problem occurs bot prior to and after installation of Update 2.

Any Thoughts?

sounds like there may be a problem with the notes.ini file

Re-install the Notes client, then run the set-up pointing to the User ID file. Then create a location document pointing to the promary mail file. You can then browse to the secondary mail files and bookmark their location.

Bradley,

That’s the problem, I forgot to copy over the notes.ini!. I’ve been doing this with Notes since Version 4 and never forgot it before. My mind was on getting my Virtual Lab up and running and making sure that I didn’t miss anything on that end.

thanks, Steve
