Months ago, the user (User3/ORG) had their forwarding address (name@provider.com) removed from their person doc in the NAB.
a new application (developed long after the forwarding address above had been removed) has a notification action that will send to N number of people.
When the message goes out, the “To” field is in the form of:
User1/ORG, User2/ORG, name@provider.com
the server log shows a message being sent to User3/ORG and the next line shows it being transferred to name@provider.com
name@provider.com is not in any replicas of the NAB, I even built my own view listing All documents (Select @All) and don’t see this addresss.
Where in our system(s) could this be hiding?
thks,

open the $Users view in the DD and look for an entry that starts with cn=user3. You may want to first enable full access administration as there may be a record with a $Readers field on it that is preventing you from seeing it. also search for user3 and name@provider.com. also issue “sh xdir” at your server console to see if there are any other directories from where the entry might be pulled. also build a view to display rep/save conflicts to see if there may be an orphaned conflict for that user.

Hi Paul,
I enabled full access administration and opened the $Users view in the NAB from the Admin client.
I saw many cn= entries for many people including User3. All the entries for User3 had the correct email listed when I opened the docs.
I did a search for user3 and name@provider.com, not hits
I issued “sh xdir” at the server console which gives me “Notes & LDAP names.nsf”
I built a view in the name with the selection formula:
SELECT @IsAvailable($Conflict)
no documents appear
any other ideas?

Where does the code run? Is it a button clicked by users or some code that is running locally? Check the client executing the code. Look for any local address books that may have that entry hanging around.
Subject: New application forwarding email to long gone account SOLVED
Here’s what I did:
For each replica of the NAB, open the People view and:
For each server in the domain, go to the server console:
load updall names.nsf
load compact names.nsf
hope this helps someone,

yeah, if you looked at the view entry for user3, scroll all the way to the right and there was likely the fwding address still appearing in the MailAddress column. It happens some times.

Actually the old address was in the users local NAB and since the user in question was the one submitting the report, Notes was looking to the local NAB first.
