Thanx for the solution Rufus but I need to automatically pick up the machine name.Such that the moment I view the field in designer,its already reflecting the machine name

Not quite sure what you are trying to achieve, AFAIK there is no way of getting the machine name except via running some code to retrieve it.
If you want to store the machine name in a document or display on a form what is wrong with a PostOpen event.
If you need the machine name for some other purpose then please let us know and we may be able to suggest some workarounds.

I would caution against using that since environment variables can be changed very easily, and some spyware does this.
I don’t know where this thread started, but the most accurate way to get the computer name is via a Windows API call.
