Need to be in full access to create mail file directly

Recently, my admin who creates our user’s Notes accounts started having problems creating user’s mail files (via people->register).It would fail on creating the mail file, and say “you are not authorized to perform that operation.”.

I then discovered that even I couldn’t directly create a mail file with our custom mail templates. Although, when I entered full access admin mode, it worked fine.

When I use the original mail templates (mail85.ntf), it seems to work fine… it’s just my custom templates. I thought it might be something that got messed up with the ACL, but it’s identical to the original mail template which works fine.

What’s really weird is, if I create a copy of my custom mail template… I’m able to create a mailfile from it without issue.

Very odd… I must be missing something, right? We only noticed this recently because we stopped using “create mail file in background” (because of a separate issue with Domino 8.5… but that’s fine and fixed in 8.5.1)

This is the same on all my domino servers. Nothing has changed in the security settings of the server doc.

Subject: Does the custom template use private views? Change in Server secuity groups for creating Dbs?

If a template uses privated or private on first use views and it is opened directly by an user, this may cause the problems.

If you’ve been dropped from Server security groups, you may not be allowed to create Dbs on the server anymore.

The custom template is almost identical to the original mail85.ntf template. We just add in a couple of custom forums for users to send in support requests to IT and a custom import signature function in the calendar profile.

Security settings haven’t changed. I’m the only one who touches them.

tried copying ACL from working original template to my custom template… still not working.
