A retail chain customer has a Notes application for printing price signs (shelf talkers and larger signs). Each Notes document is a product. It is working fine and presently prints one document per page, but now we need to print to perforated stock which means formatting the output to print multiple notes document/pricetags on the same sheet. I don’t believe this is do-able through traditional Notes development…probaly XPages can handle it but I’m not an expert there. Likely there are third party products that can extend the printing function of Notes. I’ve already looked at intelliprint and am experiencing sticker shock. Any suggestions?
Subject: Use html to format it and print
You didn’t say how you wanted to print it, from the client or on the server with an agent. But you can do formatting with html it or use Symphony / Open Office to pull the data and print it.
I’ve used Open Office to format and print via an agent on the server. It can also save as PDF if needed.
Subject: Discovered contact printing
I thought of maybe using Symphony, but the workstations can only handle Notes basic (old POS machines). But I have discovered the contact printing function in Notes. Its useful for printing signs and in 8.5.1 an SPR has been addressed that allows this to work with server based NSF’s. I think this will work for me.
