Need prompt that does not require a click to close

This is for the Notes Client, not the web.

I have a button that grabs a piece of data and places it on my clipboard. I would like to have a simple window pop up that tells the user that this has been successful, and have it go away BY ITSELF after a second or less.

@Prompt requires an OK button to be clicked. This is overkill for this, and will become annoying. I just would like to give the user some feedback when they click the button, so they know the correct data is on the clipboard, so they do not have to proofread the paste.

Anybody know how I might do something like this? A timer and a second windowed document coming up? Anything?

I’ve tried, and cannot figure it out. This question, if asked before, I sure cannot find it.

Thanks,

Matt

You can use @StatusBar print a message to the status bar at the bottom of the client, but it does not pop up. I use this when I want the users to know something but don’t want them to click something every time. I don’t know of any other way to get a message to close by itself.

Use the LotusScript PRINT statement.

Print “Everything worked OK.”

This line will make “Everything worked OK.” appear in the status bar at the bottom of the screen.

Alternatively you could pop up a dialogbox each time it processes successfully. In that dialogbox have a check box that says something like “Do not show this message again”. If they tick that, save it to a profile doc for that user.

Next time they process successfully, just print the message at the bottom.

This gives you the best of both worlds - those folk who like to see intrusive confirmation can have it and those that don’t, don’t.

Via script, use messagebox, sleep and sendkeys, you can do this.

I don’t see how sendkeys would serve. The “don’t prompt me again” checkbox is a good idea, and I have such code in the sample database for this article: Views Part 1.

Another option: create a dialogbox form that looks like a messagebox. Use workspace.Dialogbox to open it. In the form, have a NotesTimer that ticks off however many seconds and then closes the dialog. If the user clicks OK before that, you stop the timer and close immediately.
