Need idea... embedded view design

Hi there,

I need some of your design idea regarding something I created.

I have a main document, that are filled with informations. In this document, I have an embedded view. In this same document, I created an action button that create sub-documents (shown in the embedded view). Thoses sub-documents are “steps” in a building process and are dated. IE:

conception / 14-06-2005

review / 16-06-2005

packaging / 17-06-2005

shipping / 18-06-2005

Each steps are a distinct document, with a field called DateJob. This field must be editable.

I want idea on how I can do, if a date is changed (for exemple the “review” date in this example), the sub-job (packaging and shipping) to be updated. If we add 1 day to the review stage, 1 day is added to the packaging and shipping stage.

For the moment, the only one thing that linked all those document together are the job number. There is a job number field in all thoses documents that are taken from the main document.

Any suggestion would be appreciated.

I would make the sub-documents response documents to the main one. Then use the show single category method to display only subs for the parent (by using the UNID of the parent as the category)

Then in your main action button, run a lotusscript that will do a getalldocumentsbyKey and retrieve all the responses in one documentcollection.

If you number your document types like review=1, packaging=2 etc … you could test for that value and compare it to the action you did (say you’re adding review time) all the subs whose type is >=1 get an added amount of time equivalent to how much was added in the main document.

I’m not sure if I explained it well enough, if not, contact me at praktikal@gmail.com … I can write a response in french.
