Need advises for upgrade from R5

My company plans to upgrade the Lotus Domino from R5 to R8. After read the IBM redbook and the forum resources, I have got some general idea how to do the upgrade. Since there are three different sites in my company and each has one R5 server running; the co-existence situation will occur. Due to the limited resource the co-existence period may has 2 months. Below is my upgrade plan;

  1. Site A upgrades the Domino server from R5 to R6

  2. Site B upgrades the Domino server from R5 to R6

  3. Site C upgrades the Domino server from R5 to R6

  4. Site A upgrades the Domino server from R6 to R8

  5. Site B upgrades the Domino server from R6 to R8

  6. Site C upgrades the Domino server from R6 to R8

  7. Site A, B and C upgrade LN client to R8.

  8. Can anyone gives some advises on my plan?

  9. Is it O.K. for direct upgrade the user’s LN client from R5 to R8 after all servers upgrade completed?

  10. What is the suitable Domino server version (R6 or R7) for the interim stage on the upgrade?

Subject: Good Plan

Your plan looks good, as you should upgrade clients AND servers to 6.5 before upgrading them to 8. Make sure you do it in a test environment first so that you can anticipate any problems down the road.

Subject: Can I omit the interim stage on Notes client?

I don’t want to have the interim stage on LN clients. We don’t have any application developed on LN, we only use general LN functions, Teamroom and ResourceCentre plus some mail template modification.

If the LN client jumped from R5 to R8 after server upgrade. What are the ricks?
