Need a Hidden BCC function

Hi - I need to incorporate a “hidden” bcc function into the Notes email template to bcc a copy of SENT mail to an archiving address. This is not part of journaling. The archive address is an internet email address.

I don’t want to lose the user’s function to send bcc: - just need to add one email address to the bcc: list before the mail is sent out so the user can’t mess delete or modify the “hidden bcc”

Anyone have a suggestion on the best way to do this.

There are many ways to attack this - HEre are two.

Change the name of the BCC field to something like EnterBCC. Add a computed BCC field with the value “HiddenAddress@whereever.com”:EnterBCC

Alternatively, change the querysave event, or any of the script involved in sending an email to append the address.

In the Notes Mail template their is a field called EnterBlindCopyTO

I set the BlindCopyTo field to computed. My formula in the BlindCopyTo field is :

bcc := “velcrox@k50.net”:EnterBlindCopyTo;

bcc

When I enter something in the BCC field and attempt to mail it, it does show up in the BlindCopyTo field, but DOES NOT send it.

When I enter it manually in the EnterBlindCopyTo field it DOES send the BCC.

I have to be missing something. This should be

simple. Maybe something in the Send action?

Any help would be appreciated on this.

Thanks,

J.R.

If the BlindCopyTo field was not computed to begin with then something is happening in the script library when the message is sent.

I’d suggest changing the value in querysave or the script library.

Thanks everyone - got it to work with a querysend formula

We made a change to the local mail.box file so the user can not edit it.

Thanks,
