I’m just looking for some direction. Searching through the forums hasn’t yielded quite what I would like in terms of answers.
We are working on a web db that returns search results built from a wqs agent from the search form. This prints back a url to the browser with a “?SearchView&Query=” tag including the built query string. After getting the results we open the document in a new window.
What will be the best method for going to the next document in the search results? I thought it may be best to revamp our search and and put the results in a folder. Then print the folder url back to the browser. This way we could possibly code the “Next” button in the document to grab the next document in the folder based off the UNID of the currently open document.
Thoughts anyone?

Chris,
When I’ve done things like this, I usually do the following:
-
Print the results to a document, not a view. You can make it view-like, but it’s really a backend notes document
-
Include a field which contains all the id’s (note ids, preferably, since their shorter than unids)
-
When a user clicks on a link to any of the docs, you send them there along with &searchdocid=unid of the search document. Now you can put a next/previous button in the form that shows up when this searchdocid=unid is present, and if someone clicks them, then those buttons can take the user back to the searchdoc using the id given, pass the note id of the current document, and get the note id of the next/previous document and open that one, again passing &searchdocid=unid.

Thank you for the tips. I have one of our developers working on an implementation using your information as a starting point. Thanks again!
