All,
Currently I have a user whose name is very common. There currently are two users already and now I have a 3rd client.
There is not a real issue with internet mail coming in. The real issues exist with internal mail being routed to these users. As you all know, when a user types in smith they will pick the first person they see and send off the message. My Smith needs to have something else that distinguishes her from all the other Smiths out there since she is in HR. Now I know I can play with the middle initial but I wanted to know if there is something else that can be done to address this?
I assume this maybe an age old problem in Notes but I’m more interested in what other admins may have come up with to address this.
Thanks in advanced.
Moe

Have you considered firing the other two?
The issue is not limited to Notes by any means. It is a problem on every platform. The middle initial is the only commonly accepted answer that I know of. Some large organizations require a middle initial of everyone. Anyone without a MI gets an “X” – like “Gail X Smith”.

Hi
We have another solution here (most of french people does not have a middle initial, it would be stupid to rename everyone with an X).
Actually, when a user is frozen, but needed to be re-created, ibm adds a ‘1’ to the name.
e.g. mine would be Yannick Michaud1/France/IBM

Can you make her Notes short name known, esp. since the problem is internal mail? That is the only thing in each person document that Notes requires to be unique.
