HiI have upgraded my TP to Win 7 from Win XP. After upgrading my windows if I copy my local notes address book names.nsf file from old windows and past it to new win 7 address book it is not working. My old lotus not was 8.5 and new lotus is 8.5.1 also I tried to open using louts notes (click right button in blank space of workspace – open application — select location and open the names.nsf file). Then it showing this is not a data. How can I resolve the problem and what is the cause?

Subject: Encrypted Perhaps?
Are you using the same Notes ID file that you were using on your WinXP machine? If not, then your NAMES.NSF may have been encrypted with the old Notes ID file and your new Notes ID file is different and can’t unencrypt the NAMES.NSF.

If all you did was copy the NAMES.NSF from your WinXP machine to your Win7 machine and you are using the same Notes ID file, that should work fine, there isn’t anything inherently wrong in the process. Unless you had some disk encryption or compression set up on your WinXP machine, then I would suspect that your NAMES.NSF copy on the Win7 machine is now corrupted.
Hm, one other possibility that occurs to me that might be worth checking. In Windows Explorer, check the file properties on NAMES.NSF on the Win7 machine. I have run into issues a couple of times where copying files to a Win7 machine causes the operating system to think that the file is suspicious and locks down access to it. You could probably get a more specific description from a Microsoft techie, but that’s the best I can do

Ya my user.id and names.nsf is same though I am unable to open names.nsf locally but if I try to open the names.nsf from any network share folder then I can open any way I solved the problem after copying full old lotus notes folder from xp and paste it to win7 then I installed lotus notes 8.5.1 in same location. Now I got my previous local contacts and its working fine. But i am not clear why making the problem.
