In Feb-Mar '10, we upgraded around 50 Lotus Domino Messaging servers from R7.0.3 FP1 to R8.5.1 FP1. We took adequate measures to prevent design upgrade of our Address Book, as was our requirement. These included
-
Removal of “Design” task from ServerTasksatxx line in Notes.ini
-
Addition of Notes.ini parameter SERVER_UPGRADE_NO_DIRECTORY_REDESIGN=1
-
Removal of Receive Design elements tick from “Replication->Options for this Replication->Advanced->Receive these elements from other replicas” of Names.nsf
-
Removal of 8.5.1 pubnames.ntf post-upgrade and before starting Domino Application.
Despite these measures, in 2 instances we found that the design element tick was restored on Names and its design auto-upgraded to 8.5.1 without any prompt, warning or intimation before/while upgrading.
Though we were successful in overcoming such obstacles during 8.5.1 FP1 upgrade we still thought of reporting ths interesting phenomenon.
A PMR 83793,999,744 was also raised to report all the issues faced post-upgrade but was not of much help.
Has anybody else faced such issue anytime…? If yes, then please comment.
