Mysterious Mail Database Deletion

One of my Users is currently experiencing a daily occurance of turning up for work and having no mail because their mail database has mysteriously deleted itself.

The deletion appears to happen early in the morning but I can’t find out exactly when coz I can’t find any reference to the deletion in the log (any ideas where i could find this?).

After restoring the mailbox I have restricted the users access to Editor so he can’t be the culprit, but it still gets deleted.

What on earth is going on?

By the way we just upgraded to R6.5 and currently all overnight compact commands are disabled.

could it be your antivirus? we run norton corp and it was grabbing mail files and putting them in quarintine. we had to configure the antivirus to leave the files alone.I also had the compactor shut off after the upgrade.

Any Adminp requests to delete this database?

Have you found an answer to this yet? We have upgraded to R6.5 and one of our users (who is still on R5, but that doesn’t seem to be relevant) is having this problem too.

I’m frantically replicating mail files to a backup server on a temporary basis, but that ain’t a solution!

I just wanted to add my two sense worth here. My admin group had a process where we moved mail from one mail server to another and that process failed, deleting both mailboxes, due to the Norton Antivirus.

This only happened with a few of our mail databases, not all but thought I’d mention the fact that we too has a sitiation where the NAV effected or deleted the mail DBs.

So if I were you I’d keep NAV in mind when trying to find your solution.
