Mysterious changes to mail files

Hello Everyone,

Scenario: I created new replicas of all mail files on Server A to Server B. I then ran an offline convert to bring the mail files to the 6.5.5 template custom. All files were verified using the Admin client as having the 6.5.5 template. I then ran a offline compact fixup and updall and rebooted server. A week later all the template were back at the orginal template version. I only did a pull replication from Server A to Server B. Design does NOT run on any server in the enviroment unless I manually run it (and I did not run design). I then ran the convert, compact, fixup and updall again. All files were verified to have the 6.5.5 template. This time the template did not revert to older version. However of the 7 directories(2000+ users) 2 of the directories (400 users) mysteriously had replication disabled and would not replicate. Once I manually enabled replication on these dbs replication works. Now then problem is trying to figure out why these two problems happened. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Dunno about the second problem (why only some subdirectories?) but I suspect the first problem came if you didn’t to a Pull replication before the design update. After doing the update, the pull may have considered the source replicas to be more up-to-date than the destinations, so pulled everything including design. If you had done the sequence as follows :

New replicas on B

Pull B from A

Replace design

Pull B from A

then I think the replication process would only have pulled documents updated after the earlier pull.
