Multiple windows - target of links

I have a laptop and an external monitor, and thus I am using Notes with mutliple windows. My welcome page (with inbox, calendar and Sametime contacts) is usually open on my laptop screen, while the external monitor is my primary work area. There I have a second Notes window in which I use applications I work with, e.g. another Inbox instance when working in e-mail or custom LN applications.

In release 7, both Windows had the bookmark bar and clicking on a link in the bookmark bar opened the link in the window where the link was clicked (i.e. clicking a link in my external monitor Notes window opened the link on my external monitor).

Now, in 8.5.1 I only have one instance of the open list (which I docked, so it almost looks like my bookmark bar) in my primary Notes window (the one with the welcome page on my laptop screen).

However, when I click on a link in the docked open list, sometimes the target is opened in the primary window, sometimes it’s opened in the second Notes window on my external screen. I can’t reproduce when the target is opened where though.

I know there’s the option “Always open in new Window” in the links’ context menu, but that’s not what I want. If my laptop is not docked, I want all tabs in one Notes window.

E.g.: I have two Notes windows open, one displaying the welcome page (with inbox, calendar and Sametime contacts) - this one has the open list docked and is on my laptop screen - and another one in which I do my primary work (e.g. other custom LN applications) - this one is on my external screen and has no open list. Now I click a link in the open list and the target opens in the primary Notes window as an additional tab next to the welcome page. That’s not where I usually want it (unless my laptop is undocked). I close it and click the link again, and all the sudden it opens in the other Notes window. (Sometimes the link target opens in the other Notes window on my external screen at the first click on the link though, again no pattern that I could identify).

To me, the easiest solution would be to show the open list in all windows (at least when it’s docked). Then the link should simply open as a new tab in the window in which the open list link was clicked. If I could drag and drop tabs across multiple Notes windows, that would be waaaaay awesome :-).
