Multiple Update tasks running

I have UPDATE listed once in my notes.ini server tasks entry.

However it’s not unusual for me to see 7 or 8 update tasks running simultaneously. This occurred with R7 and also now running R801.

What could cause this behavior?

Thanks - I had not seen that document. I reviewed it. I have only a single processor and I checked my ini file for updaters and “updaters” does not exist in my ini file. So the search for a solution continues.
