Hello
I have a very basic Lotus Notes problem… I have 2 POP accounts ( on different domains ) and I want to have the emails from them in 2 different mail databases in lotus. ( and of course, notification when I receive an email on any of the accounts ).
So far, I managed to have 2 attempts… but none of them really did what I wanted.
- Using a single location ( this means that I was able to specify a single mail database ).
I created 4 accounts ( 2 pops and 2 smtps ) and enabled them on this location.
The problem with this is that I have all the emails in the same database, which I don’t want, and on top of this, there is no way of specifying which account should be used when you send a reply, or a new email. All emails will be sent using a single email address, which is not ok, because one guy sends me an email to one email address and I reply using another!!!
- Using 2 locations ( thus having 2 different mail databases )… the same 4 accounts ( 2 on the first location, the other 2 on the second ).
This works with no bugs, if I restart lotus every time I decide to change the location.
If I change the location using File->mobile->choose current location, the replication settings are kept for the location I logged in, regardless of the new location I just changed… ![]()
Also I tend to guess that the “location abstractization” was not designed for solving this type of problems, as it seems to me, it is an elegant tool of specifying which accounts you want to synchronize/replicate.
I hope that my lotus skills are indeed bad, because I refuse to believe that such a powerful and complex tool has a problem on such a simple configuration… altough when having all the emails in one database it is clear that the sender cannot be chosen…
Anybody has any experience with this?.. I read the forum but what came close to this, was the multiple accounts from the same domain ( and I guess the emails stored in one mail db ).
Thank you,
Thomas
