I have read posts on this forum how to set up multiple email addresses by creating accounts for each email address. I have 6 email accounts all using the same POP server. On the first account, I have indicated the POP account by server name (mail.xxxx.net), on the remaining 5 accounts, I have indicated the server name by the IP address, the same IP address is repeated on these 5 accounts. While testing this, I only receive mail from the last account that is listed. I realized this by deleting accounts one by one and the account that is listed last, seems to be the only one I can receive mail from.
We have not upgraded to 6.05 yet, is the support for multiple email accounts better in the latest version?
Any suggestions on my problem would be appreciated.
Using a Notes client to receive mail from multiple POP accounts has worked fine for years. As far as I know, there have been no changes in any recent releases. I think you have a set-up problem.
You indicated that you created an account document for each email address. Have you also created a location document for each email address? Does the account document specify that it should only work for the (one) associated location document?
That’s what you have to do. To use this, you have to switch to a different location for each email address and replicate. In order to receive email for 6 addresses, you have to switch location 6 times and replicate 6 times.
I was trying to avoid setting up six locations–my hope was to have one location document that would replicate for all accounts. So you are telling me there is no way to make this work without having individual locations…correct?
I have heard of a 3rd-party add-in task for Domino servers, though, that will pop mail down from specified POP servers/accounts and deliver it to Notes mail files. MailFido or something like that?? Of course that requires a new processs on the server and it is for Windows servers only. But maybe that will work for you.
I’ll work with the locations and accounts. I was wanting to avoid the multiple locations, but if that’s what Notes requires, I’ll work with it. Thanks for your help. Diane
