Multiple directories

Is there a way to create multiple directories databases in order to have only the person documents in one directory database and only groups documents in other directory databases?

Could this be working? Could those groups be used in ACL of the databases in order to restrict access?

You can do this…sort of…

At least with Notes authentication (not sure about LDAP), groups MUST be contained within the primary directory if they will be used to control access to databases. Person documents, however, can be listed in a separate directory. In this case, you would need to put the person documents in a cascaded directory or a directory accessible via Directory Assistance.

Hm… tried something but… it didn’t work like I suposed…

I wanted the groups to be usefull for ACL authentification, but not available for the users that use for example the iNotes mail client. They will see those groups… and there is an possibility to send mail to those groups. I don’t want that…

I’m considering another option(received another idea)… not realy the best one… not even sure that will work…

To use restricted access to those group documents in Directory database by using readers fields.

I’ll give it a try…

Have some other ideas? thx

ok. Readers on group documents are not a very good idea… the user will see empty entries in dialog box(iNotes - domino web access), in place of the restricted groups.

I’ve managed to create an second directory & used Group autorization flag on Directory Assistence and it worked.

In second directory, i’ve placed the ACL no access, to -Default- entry. in this way, the users will not be able to expand/search the secondary directory.

HTH someone…
