Multiple Certificates

Can 2 certificates work on one machine? For instance, www.mydomain.com and and forum.mydomain.com. Both on one IP address. I have web site docs defined already. I put each certificate in its related site doc.

I already have www certificate. To test if it works, I created self certified certificate for forum. But I am finding it still uses www even when I enter forum.mydomain.com.

I assume, you are talking about SSL certificates?

I just had so learn a couple of weeks ago, that some vendors sell certificates for domains instead of host names. Search this forum and you should be able to find a related thread.

However, the original poster was not able to resolve his problems using sub-domains and personally I consider such certificates a little weired to say the least. The big guys (like Thawte or Verisign) don’t offer stuff like that. Remember that a certificate does more that just provide a means for encrypting content during transmission. It also identifies the owner of the certificate. In the case of sub-domains, there might be many different owners.
