Multi-value view

I have a database designed for the web, which controls items in a property store.Each document can hold up to 10 items:

Record No. xxyy1

Ref No…Description…Where held

#1…Trousers…Cabinet 1

#2…Shirt…Cabinet 2

#3…Jacket…Cabinet 1

all this is held on 1 document.

Now, in a view I want to display the document and its details under a categorized view (tried to show it via a diagram below), BUT showing the items as different entries.

eg.

|> xxyy1

_____Trousers

_____Shirt

_____Jacket

|> xxyy2

_____Car Keys

_____Wallet

Is it possible to show more than 1 field in a column as different entries?

Not really sure I understand you post but…

Yes, a view column can show multi-values as new lines.

This is simply a property of the column that you set in Designer.

You also need to specify this in the view properties.

Be aware though that you can’t show more than 9 ‘lines’, even if the multi-value is more.

If you want the column to show values from different fields in a document, just merge them as you want in the column formula.

Example:

@Sort(myField1 : myField2)

Thank you for your reply.

I have tried collating the fields together:

@sort(field1 : field 2 : field2)

and selected the option for the column “Show multiple entries as seperate values”, also tried the multi-value separator on each option.

I couldn’t find the option(s) in the view properties to change anything regarding the multi-entries.

When I view this through a web browser it shows only 1 entry per document.

I am wanting to show all 10 fields for a document as separate entries in a view (different lines).

I think I am on the right track, but am I doing something wrong?

You are close, only the view properties to set.

In Designer, open the view in question.

In the view’s properties dialog, click on the 3rd tab.

In the section marked ‘Rows’, change the ‘Height’ default value of ‘1’ to the maximum value of ‘9’, then check the checkbox ‘Shrink rows to content’.

That should do it.
