Moving romaing users

Hi,Trying to cut a very long storey short (!) we had a major Internet outage at our worldwide HQ which contained our Hub server for Domino. In order to get mail flowing, changed our MX records to another site and (maybe incorrectly) attempted a “move to another server” for all the users on that server to a spoke sever at the same office, did some replicating between the two to make sure that mail files had been created and then took that spoke server to the other site. I then changed the Home Server entry in everyone’s Person Document manually (only people that had there some server at the site with no Internet) to the other server, now at the other site, so mail would get delivered in those inboxes.

The problem I have is that the original server is where their Roaming Profile is stored (so the 3 .nsf’s). The site has since had its net connection restored (was off for about 2 weeks). It doesn’t seem that you can manually specify the Roaming Server/Location in the person document. In order to get the files moved do I have to make all of those users nonromaing and then roaming? Or is there a better way that I don’t know of? All the users that I manually changed the Home Server of now have “replication save conflict” but each document is exactly the same, so I guess I just need to delete the “conflicting” document.

Your help and assistance is greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,

Dave

Hi David,

I have a couple questions regarding your post:

  1. Where replicas created of the user’s 3 databases on the server they were moved to?

  2. Was the ‘Roaming Server’ field updated in their Person Documents?

  3. If you review the progress of Adminp requests, do you find that all the steps completed successfully for the move?

Thanks!

Hi Dan,1. The journals, bookmarks and names files have not been created at the new location

  1. The Roaming Server field in their Person Documents says the old server.

  2. At the moment in the Admin Requests database there all the users have an entry for “Monitor New Mail File Fields” then when I select the twisty there is an icon that looks like a white piece of paper with a red cross (which I guess isn’t good)

Do you think that as the other server couldn’t get to the old server for so long that Domino gave up trying to action the request and it is just a matter of doing a “move to another server” again?

Your help is greatly appreciated.
