Moving mail to trash folder

Hello, wonder if anyone can help me with this.

I really like the way in notes 6 where documents (specifically mail) are moved to the trash folder when you press delete. My question is this.

When i move any unread mail to the trash by pressing delete, i look in the trash folder and it appears that everything has been marked as read.

When moving documents from one folder to another, does notes actually open the document ?. And does it only apply to the mail template(s), or is it a general thing ?.

We have a BIG problem with spam at the moment (who doesn’t !), and we dont have any filtering software, and no we haven’t set anything up within notes yet. I’ve noticed that my particular amount of spam has been going up a lot recently.

Does anyone agree with me that by moving mail to trash is marking it as read, and sending the necessary reply to the sender, thus showing my email address as valid and “live” ?.

Has anyone else noticed this, and if so, (aside from filtering software) are there any options for me (design changes to the mail db maybe ?).

Thanks in advance

James

Despite the appearance in the Trash folder, the return receipts are not triggered by Deleting mail. No changes necessary.

Also, why wait to fix your spam issue? You can add DNS blacklists in a matter of seconds.

James,

Just tested myself, and agree, it appears mail sent straight into the trash via delete is not “red” when you view the trash folder!

I sent myself a email, and included a return-receipt, just in case your theory on a “reply” is automatic, alas i got no receipt. I therefore conclude that Notes is not auto-replying.

I too am in the same situation with spam. However, with the Rules Tool in R6 you can create at least dump the junk without ever knowing you got it.

To be honest i tried reverse dns on my mail server, which had a great success in blocking spam, alas it also stopped genuine users who have their mail hosted elsewhere, and use someone else’s server to email through, so i had to remove the feature!

Good luck with the anti-spam stuff.

Just another thought try:
