The old domino server 5.0.6 is about to be out of service due to hardware failure. We’re planning to build a new domino server 6.0.1 CF1 in replacing the old one. The challege part of this move is that we just need to move the database not the entire configuration of the old server.
If you are the administrator, how would you do the move? ( We are using the old certifier id file and the server id file to build the new server)
Subject: Sound like you missed something important…
Did you copy the old Notes.INI file from the old program directory (located in the same place as the nserver.exe file) to the same location on the new box?
Did you edit the Notes.INI DIRECTORY= line so it pointed to the data path on the new box?
Subject: Moving Domino Database from one machine to another
If you’re just moving databases from one server to another, do an OS-level file copy from the R5 server’s data directory to the D6 server’s data directory.

I agree with Matthew – your Notes.ini needs to be moved too.
However, if you’re building a completely new server, why not go through the new server installation and set up that machine like you want it, and then copy the NSFs from the old server you want.
Alternatively, copy the NAB, Notes.ini and your databases from the old server and just bring it up that way.
