It seems that with version 8.5 (it could have been version 8, we skipped that version), when using the Move To Folder menu from the inbox, the folder list retains the last folder you moved email to rather than defaulting to the inbox from the list. Many of our users use keyboard commands and type-ahead to move messages from the inbox to their folders, but the “improved” find capability and caching of folder selections adds to the time it takes to move a message.
For example, a user has a folder in the Folder root called OCE and a folder called Ocean embedded in another folder. Previously, in versino 7.0.3, using their keyboard commands, they could type ‘oce’ and it would immediately shift to the OCE folder where they could Enter to move the message. Now, if they have moved messages to a message between the OCE and Ocean folders in the meantime, the next time they go to move a message to the OCE folder, typing ‘oce’ will take them to the Ocean folder since it is below the previous folder (the in-between one). Rather than start at the top of the folder list, it starts at the last folder that had email moved to it.
I hope I’ve explained this so that it makes sense. I’m wondering if there is a setting to turn this type of caching off or if anyone has a workaround (other than typing ‘oce’ ‘oce’ until they hit the correct folder).
