Mouseless development in Domino Designer - help needed

Hi there,

I am trying to make my wrists more comfortable by eschewing the mouse and I am getting stuck in the Domino Designer.

the ones I know:

F6 to go from one pane to the other

alt-W-number for a window

alt-B-for a bookmark

but I am having a problem, when scrolling down the list of design elements, of selecting a particular design element and starting to work with it. I end up trying all sorts of combinations, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt.

Anybody out there with serious keyboard skills?

Cheers,

Andrew

If you get the design area on the left to have focus, you can users cusor keys up and down and press enter to work on the selected design item.

You can also start typing in the name of the item to jump straight to it.

Hi Carl, thanks for your answer.

Just a point of clarification: My designer screen generally has three parts: on the left, I have the database bookmarks, in the middle the objects, on the right the actual code.

Moving from the middle to the right is done with F6. The only way I have found to move from the middle to the bookmarks is alt-W-1, which I find horrible. Is there a better way?

And when you are navigating within bookmarks, is there a way to jump easily from one database to another? (i.e. in order to remove them all - I am never sure in which database I am currently programming.

Best Regards,

Andrew

Look in the help databases for short cut keys- they are all pretty well documented.

All I find is this:

Press To do this

ALT+B, then number (extended accelerators in User Preferences must be enabled) Open bookmark on Bookmark bar

ALT+F5 Restore Designer to default minimized size

ALT+F7, then ARROW KEYS, then ENTER Move position of active window

ALT+F8, then ARROW KEYS, then ENTER Change size of active window

ALT+F9 Minimize active window

ALT+F10 Maximize active windows

ALT+underlined letter for menu item Access menu item

ALT+underlined letter for menu item, or ARROW KEYS Move to next menu item

ALT+W, then number (extended accelerators in User Preferences must be enabled) Open window tab on task bar

CTRL+BREAK Stop operation in progress

CTRL+L, type URL, then ENTER Go to a Web page

CTRL+Q or ALT+F4 Exit Designer

CTRL+TAB Move to next window tab

ESC or CTRL+W Close active window

F1 Get Help on current feature

F5 Lock User ID

F6 Move to next pane or frame

F10 or ALT Access menu bar

SHIFT+ALT+S Open search menu

SHIFT+CTRL+TAB Move to previous window tab

SHIFT+CTRL, then UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW Select multiple bookmarks or Bookmark folders

SHIFT+DOWN ARROW Select additional items below an already selected item

SHIFT+F6 Move to previous pane or frame

SHIFT+F10 Access Windows context menus

SHIFT+UP ARROW Select additional items above an already selected item

And it still assumes that I have to use the mouse to go somewhere. (Once you are somewhere, then you can browse, but getting there. Getting from the Bookmarks to the Windows and vice-versa - I can’t seem to make it work consistently…

Try it out. Just put your mouse aside, ban it, and try doing things in Designer - and tell me if you find a good solution!

Best Regards,

Andrew
