I would change the word “Space” by “Bandwidth”. If the bandwidth is slow then the entire functionality will be slow. You can play with the “show stat” command to measure several variables.

Anyway if you think that the bandwidth is a problem I suggest compressing attachment (you can use Zipmail, see www.zipmail.com), implementing quotas, and thinks like these.

Hi Pablo ,

Thanks for your response , Acutally as of now we are not facing any problem … I newly joined the organization and it is my first job to monitor the server So just want to know what should i do check on daily basis so that server keep work smoothly for example i have been told the we should check the log.nsf if size huge then we can simly rename the log and restart the server and can move old log.nsf to somewhere . I want more such kind of tips which we can do to avoid space and performance issue .

Thanks

Hi Ravi,

AS an administrator, your task should be as follows,

Check for the connection documents if you are using more than one servers.

check for the log file wherein autoupdates will be performing @ 2 am.

check for any certificates has been expired with respect to the users.

have an archival policy wherein the mails will be there for 3/6 months.

if so, after archival policy, run the compact -B command, it will resolve the space constraint.

weekly once, shut down the domino server, change the files (Log, Mail boxes and Statrep)

Weekends run the tasks (Compact/Fixup) for all the databases.
