Monitor smtp

When lots of spammers trying to connect and programmed to continueous connect, and eventually the smtp just can not handle and starts to rejecting any furuther connections, and server get into the “hung” condition. Most of time I need to restart the Domino server. But that’s when my unhappy customers started calling us.Any way to setup monitoring so if the number of smtp connection exceeds may be 20 or 30 or start rejecting connections I can get nofification by email (before the server hung itself).

Thanks!

Subject: Setup a monitoring event

Setup a monitoring event (Administrator Client, Configuration tab) for the statistic “SMTP.Sessions.Inbound.Active” for example, and an event notification to email you. See the documentation on how to setup events and notification for details.

a) You could set the threshold to a “good” value before you expirience the "hang"b) depending on your configuration, the mail can be routed by the mail router task via NRPC instead of SMTP

c) you can choose actions other then email notifcations (like run an external program or command, etc.). Check out the documentation for all available choices.

If it’s not in the events4 database by default, you can create a new document with the value manually.
