Modifying Mail Template - Calendar Profile

Can anyone tell me why there is a warning in the Calendar Profile against increasing the width of the outermost table beyond 6.050 inches. I have a client who wishes to use a much wider Logo (60h x 300w) than the standard ones provided by Lotus (65 square) and I should like to create more space for the Preview box in the Calendar Profile.

Many thanks,

Subject: customers can edit the width if they like

That message was for the template developers who work on the template, so that they would always be aware of the width of the dialog box. You can customize/widen the table if you wish.

Subject: I’m a bit confused

Debbie,

Thanks for your response. I am a developer and the plan was to widen the table to accomodate the wider logo. When I tried it, the dialog box automatically widened to fit, so I was confused as to why the warning was there and whether widening the table would ‘break’ the template. I believe you’re telling me that it’s OK to change, in which case, why is there such a prominent and definitive warning?

Subject: re: table warning

I put the warning into the form because in past releases, due to bugs in table design (which do appear to be fixed now), the width of the table would unexpectedly grow extremely wide, for instance if a field or nested table was added o the form. Because there are so many nested tables on the form, with some of the tables and/or text having “Absolute” right margins, it was impossible to simply drag the outermost table to a more reasonable, narrower width. Consequently, I spent countless hours going through every text paragraph and nested table to set everything to relative right margins in an attempt to re-set the table (dialog box) to a reasonable width. Once I put the warning at the top of the form, the problem was alleviated.

Customers, however, can make any customizations to any template they wish. For 8.51, I have modified the warning to be directed at Template Developers only.

I hope that alleviates any concerns that you have about customizing the form.
